SULOP - A Brief Description




Sulop is a 3rd class municipality in the Province of Davao del Sur, Philippines. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 27,340 people in 5,800 households.

Its geographical coordinates are 6° 35' 55" North, 125° 20' 37" East.

Transportation:


Sulop is more or less 75 km from Davao City in which the international airport is located. It is serviced via Davao - Gensan buses.


Communication:

Different telephone companies are operating in Sulop. Among are Smart Communications, Globe Telecom, Sun Cellular and Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company. Internet is accessible through various Internet Cafe Shops such as EJ Internet Cafe and Computer Services (located at New Public Market, Sulop) and through wireless connection via cellular companies.

Various AM/FM Radio Stations and TV stations are operating in Davao City but can be received in the locality. Newspapers are delivered by some newspapers media outlets.


Peace and Order:

Peace and order situation within the municipality is quite good. There are no major security threats among people.


Leisure and Recreation:

Youngsters and adults alike are on online gaming as their past time. Some women are into chatting with foreign nationals where eventually they get married. Basketball, volleyball, and badminton are some of the favorite games played by Sulopians. Country side children are on traditional child games such as luksong-tinik, piko, and others. There are no major tourist attractions within the municipality. But super-packed energy individuals can go hiking and mountaineering escapades to certain upland barangays where deep ravines and difficult trails exist.
